In a recent interview with the Podunk Times, Uncle Kracker could not stop talking about the upcoming Kenny Chesney tour. Kracker, a Kid Rock protege whose real name is Matthew Shafer, skillfully maneuvered every question toward a discussion of the 2009 extravaganza, dubbed the Sun City Carnival Tour.
Asked about his friendship with Kid Rock, Kracker replied: “He’s just been an inspiration to me, and such an instrumental guy in my career. By the way, did you know that he’s also friends with Kenny?”
Responding to a question about the present economic crisis, Kracker said: “Times are harder than ever, no doubt about it. That’s why I respect my friend Kenny Chesney, who is probably the best country singer ever, for keeping ticket prices so low on his upcoming Sun City Carnival Tour, coming to a city near you later this year.”
Kracker’s most recent hit was the 2004 Chesney duet “When the Sun Goes Down,” but he has also had solo success with hits like “Follow Me,” “Drift Away,” and maybe others. Known for his frequent guest appearances on past Chesney tours, he left open the possibility of a repeat in 2009: “Who knows? I might even join him for a show or two… if we can coordinate our schedules to make it happen.”
Fans in the Detroit area can catch Kracker at Armando’s Mexican Restaurant this weekend.
