But I found a regular George Strait album too - with a few zesty tracks at the end, which I didn't much care for btw. Not that a regular George Strait album is anything but great, it just wasn't what I was expecting after hearing the descriptions for it. This review was a great read too. I lean a little more towards your take than Jim's, though both hit close. My favorite track by far is “Out of Sight Out of Mind." It sounds like a lot of the great sad Strait songs I listened to in the 90's when I was just beginning to truly love country music. Nice review. If this guy were any more polished he'd be blinding! Sorry folks, just can't get on board that train. For as popular as George has been over the last few decades I really don't think he's had any real impact on the mainstream country music scene. Being extremely pleasant and being significant seem to be somewhat mutually exclusive here.... This is the first that I've felt excited after hearing a Strait album. As Jim said at The9513, it's not "mind blowing", but I think it's just different enough for Strait that it makes me think he's not ready to call it quits just yet. My biggest complaint about Strait at times is that it seems that he's going through the motions, but I don't feel that way this time around. There's energy and passion to be found here.
