He's been gone for more than a year, and I only found out last night after going on the net trying to find out if he'd recorded any more songs. What a shock to the system.

I was managing a community radio station in Bowral, New South Wales , Australia, and we were sent the Forces Radio Tapes each week froma US company. It was an hour show and I just used to monitor the tape as it went to air. "Chisled In Stone" came on and I was moved to tears to hear such a soulful voice interpret such a sad song. I went out and bought up all I could of his albums. It is sad that he was never so big in Australia.

I for one will miss him greatly. I was so moved by the song that I also recorded it on one of my albums
and still sing it regularly at gigs. Rest in Peace mate , you've left a lasting legacy with your works.

Vern is the best singer ever and sad to see The Voice gone.....

He is buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery however, was not able to find his grave while in Nashville last month. I also visited the other cemetery Roselawn where Porter, Webb Pierce, Tammy Wynette, and Johnny Paycheck was buried. I has heart broken not able to find the grave site of Mel Street. A mystery just like his life and departure.

Vern's talent.... his song-writing, his music, and his voice, will be appreciated and played at my house for as long as my wife, my friends, or I have life in us. A truly great legend. He needs to be added to the Country Music Hall of Fame. RIP, Vern.

I fell in love with Vern in 1989, I mean really in love. I went to all his concerts in the Atlanta area, (Lanierland) etc. Met him at a concert and sometimes I felt like the fly on the wall when I heard him sing, wanting to help him write the next sad song. To me all his songs were from the heart. I could never understand radio for they stop playing his songs a while back. Boy what a mistake, I don't listen to the local stations any more. There is no Country Songs out there anymore, No real feeling in the songs. This man had it all. He suffered a broken heart in his last divorce, I heard him say. I could relate to his feelings. Vern, I loved you all these years, you took my love with you, but I'll never stop playing your songs.

I would certainly like to be entered to win if it's not too late. I met Vern once, as a member of his fan club. He is the ONLY artist I ever went out of my way to see.
I had a stroke myself in late Oct. of last year. Not major, but some speech damage. Had lost track of Vern and had no idea he had these problems. So sad to have that wonderful voice silenced. SO many more people should have been aware of him, and would be if radio these days were not so youth orientated.
Wonder where he is buried? Kathy

Sirius radio has been playing Vern's records for the past few weeks and I was so happy to hear him again.

I have most of his tapes and I'll certainly treasure them all the more now.

I feel that he has been ignored for the past 10-15 years as have all of the "older" artists. I always said that if and when I win the "lottery" that I would buy and open a radio station to play the veteran artists and give the younger population a chance to know them.

May Vern Gosdin's soul rest in peace and his spirit live on forever. In Jesus's name. Amen.
