Sugarland’s Gold and Green Giveaway

gold and greenEdit 11/30: Thanks to all for making me hungry. The winners were Jethro and Rick, and they should expect emails shortly.

With Thanksgiving just a week away, you can now safely break out the Christmas music without appearing to be a lunatic. To help you kick the season off in style, Sugarland has charged us with the task of releasing two copies of their new Christmas record Gold and Green into the wild. And by the wild, I mean the elaborate mess of Christmas decor already beginning to consume your living room, porch, and front yard.

Gold and Green is about half Christmas standards and half originals, and it differs from Sugarland’s other recent work in that it’s more country-sounding and more of an equal partnership vocally, with Kristian Bush taking several leads. In summary, it’s quite Christmasy while still being very Sugarlandy.

As my old man used to say, if you eat that whole tin of flavored popcorn, I’ll belt you. But what I think he really meant was this: “you can never have too much Christmas music.”

To enter, comment with your favorite holiday snack. You have through Thanksgiving Day (11/26).

  1. My favorite Holiday snack…Homemade fudge!

  2. Can’t go wrong with a tin of flavored popcorn, right down to that radioactive, Wynonna-colored cheese powder that stains your fingers.

  3. I have a chocolate-peanut butter ball recipe that is quite good, but if you send me this holiday CD, I really will belt you.

    Waiting patiently for December 26,

    Blake

      Awesome!

You described the album very well. I could have lived without Kristian’s leads though. His voice is surprisingly thin and nasally…and not nasally in a good way. I think the album is pretty good though.

  4. My favorite holiday snack is cans of pbr and old milwaukee. This is also my favorite non holiday snack but i figure at christmas time there festive because there cold, you know like snow.

  5. I love the sweets and make quite a few desserts around this time of year but my favorite thing to buy are those Reese’s peanut butter trees!!!

  6. My aunt makes pretzels with a Hershey’s kiss melted on top and an M&M stuck on top of that. So good!

  7. Hmm, I’d have to go with a bottle of GT’s Kombucha (the green flavor with the algae added) and some organic raw pistachios! How on earth could you beat that! (lol)

  8. Anything with peanut butter – fudge, pie, buckeyes, etc.

And you can’t go wrong with more “Sugar” for the holidays.

  9. I love the Christmas cookies from Switzerland, especially the cinnamon star cookies with sugar icing!

  10. Mine would have to be popcorn balls. We always painted em green red and gold to match the Christmas season. Wrapped em in colored clear paper with ribbons and they were quite a hit.. The kids loved them and they could also be used as Christmas decorations too.

  11. My family always erroneously referred to my favorite holiday snack as “fossnozzles.” They actually had a German name that no one could say correctly, so we changed the name to make it easier to say. On Christmas eve, my entire family would go out to my great grandparents’ farm to make fossnozzles. We all would stretch pieces of dough as thin as we could into circles, fry it, and then cover it with sugar. It’s always been one of my favorite memories of Christmases with my great grandparents.

  12. Old fashioned thin ribbon candy. It’s hard to find, but still out there.

  13. My favorite treat will always be my mom’s iced cutout cookies…..I’ve tried for many years to replicate them and never have been able to. Must have been that ’special’ mom touch!

  14. My favorite is homemade pecan pie :) yummy! Another would be pumpkin pie with LOTS of whipped-cream! Can’t wait to hear Sugarland’s Christmas Album… Great way to rock the holidays!!
