Singer-songwriter Ryan Adams is at long last set to actually put out an album in coming months. The ever meticulous crooner has been holed up in a North Carolina studio for nearly eleven straight months writing and rewriting what is said to be a masterpiece of modern country rock.
Never one to put every stray thought and feeling into musical form, the shy genius is reported to have poured his heart into painstakingly crafting some of the most memorable and emotionally engaging material of his career. Critics who have heard the record thus far have described it as “a completely original work, in no way indebted to The Replacements, Gram Parsons or the Grateful Dead” and “a new sound that is the opposite of dashed-off and flippantly presented” and “not at all targeted at the One Tree Hill demographic.”
Mr. Adams has managed to maintain his fanbase despite the fact that his output through the years has been as sparse as his public appearances with indie actresses and pop singers and his changing of hairstyles. Some have even dubbed the upcoming CD “Ryanese Democracy” after the long awaited Guns n’ Roses record that finally saw the light of day this past year.
Oddly, Adams’ website reports that after the album’s release, he will embark upon a 38-city acoustic tour on which he will play only Bryan Adams cover songs.

This is a riot, although I think it’s unfair to imply that his music is targeted at the One Tree Hill demographic. I suspect the show sought him out, not the other way around.
In any case, if anyone reading this is ever forced to watch that show, say by a younger sibling who sadly doesn’t know better, do yourself a favor and find some way to bash yourself into unconsciousness instead. There’s no camp value to the stupidity of that show, and it’s not even preposterous enough to be unintentionally funny. It’s just horrible television from every angle.
(And sorry if there are any One Tree Hill fans in our midst).
I’m actually a big RA fan, mostly of his earlier work. I do feel like his last two albums have had a much more commercial sheen and intent. They had their moments, but all in all they weren’t as satisfying to me as Cold Roses or Heartbreaker. My wife is a One Tree Hill fan. :)
i used to watch One Tree Hill on my girlfriends house. great tv series.~-’
