Curb recording artist Rodney Atkins announced today that he will follow in the footsteps of labelmate Tim McGraw by teaming with Coty Beauty Inc. to create his own fragrance. Representatives for Coty confirmed that the company is prepared to invest heavily in development of Atkins by Rodney Atkins. Anonymous inside sources report that the Atkins fragrance will be almost identical to the McGraw fragrance, but with added hints of tractor oil, McDonald’s french fries and sweat-soaked ballcap. Meanwhile, some fans have speculated that, like its predecessor, Atkins will probably smell better in the studio and on television than it does in real life. There are currently no plans to release a fragrance on Atkins’ wife, Tammy Jo.

In other Rodney Atkins news, Curb announced yesterday that the singer’s first greatest hits collection will hit shelves in February, with a second to follow in July. Atkins issued a statement calling this “awesome.”
