No, I was just using tomato soup as a general idea of how she answered all the questions – as if they had asked her about tomato soup, she would have responded the same. No double meaning, not as far I know. I was just very disappointed at her evasiveness – she shouldn’t have even bothered with that Advocate interview is she was just going to patronize gays. And I would love to be the first one to defend Reba (anyone who’s read anything from my blog knows that), but I can’t with that interview. Dolly, however, gave a straight-forward and direct answer, without pussy-footing around about it. So I just have so much respect for her because of it.

In Reba’s defense, the question appears to have been about tomato soup, not gay marriage. Unless ‘tomato soup’ is one of those euphemisms that hasn’t reached California yet.

Great edition as usual. Especially enjoyed the Dierks Bentley and Jimmy Wayne responses.

And it’s nice to see a country star actually taking a real stand on the gay marriage issue. Reba totally sidestepped the question with the evasiveness of the best politician.

So kudos to Dolly for being honest.

Dolly Parton is probably the coolest person ever.

It confuses me when people think there was a “good ol’ days” of music when pop singers just sang songs and that was how they got attention. Uh… No. It has always been about controversy and personality. If they made some good music along the way, that was purely by accident.

The “couldn’t go pop….” remark originated in the mid 60’s with a California songwriter named Bobby George (”Long Black Limousine”).
Except Bobby was not referring to himself. He told Buck Owens that “YOU couldn’t go pop with a mouth full of firecrackers!”
