He has a Jesse Dayton produced release set to be released.....sometime.

If you make it down to LA for that Marty Stuart exhibit at the Autry musuem, you should try your best to see Mike play.

Dave Gleason - a hell of a singer songwriter in his own right - plays guitar in Mike's band which is rad. And Mike is a great live performer. Also, the songs he has recorded only scratch the surface of his excellent catalogue. Even more impressive is that he is pretty amazing interpreter of covers; my two favs are his "Masters of War" and "Seed and Stems Again Blues".

so yeah.....I'm something of a fan.

"House of Secrets" - Mike Ireland & Holler. An empty house is no match for a spurned lover and a book of matches

"Ghost in This House" - Shenandoah. The lonely guy forgets what plane of existence he's inhabiting.

LMAO!
By the way, the country stations here in Western South Dakota have inexplicably re-added "Every Light In The House Is On" to their heavy rotation list.

Great list. This premise has certainly led to a lot of great music. A few more that came to mind.

They listen to songs by other guys on the list.

Just Playin' Possum - Alan Jackson

They take an unfortunate turn towards pyromania.

Matches - Sammy Kershaw

They seek advice from pop culture icons.

The King is Gone (So Are You) - George Jones

I figured a Stinson mention might be good for a Hollerin' Ben comment. He's really a disgustingly good songwriter. Hope he's able to get a release lined up for the new album pretty soon.

Great additions to the list by everyone so far.

Mike Stinson...SWEET!

I was hoping he made your list (which was super duper rad by the way)

Best line from that tune
"Salesmen keep on dialing up
and mail just keeps on piling up
and empty cans keep fillin up the sink.
and all I seem to care about
is your whereabouts and when I'm going to drink"

He's the best out there doing it man.

Also, for the downsizing there is that Willie Nelson - "Lonely Little Mansion"

I loved this feature though.

Vince Gill, "When I Call Your Name"
Alan Jackson, "Gone Crazy"

Tragically, these two songs don't help us learn anything more about lonely guys in empty houses than what you've already taught us though. I'll have to ponder some more on this topic.
