Pick up Jason Eady’s AM Country Heaven, out today.
It’s from Texas, sure – recorded with the Austin honky tonk band Heybale, as a matter of fact – but it’s a whole lot bigger. This is his Jamey Johnson moment, the one where everyone takes notice. Patty Loveless already did. She’s here, singing a duet with Eady on “Man on a Mountain.”
I wouldn’t be surprised to see AM Country Heaven picked up for reissue by a major or major-indie label a few months down the road, as sometimes happens with self-released works of real country genius.
It happened with Jamey Johnson, and with Sunny Sweeney before him.
Those who were paying attention back then know that That Lonesome Song and Heartbreaker’s Hall of Fame were just as good before Mercury Nashville and Big Machine Records got their respective mitts on ’em. So you might as well secure your early-adopter bragging rights for this one right now.
