How’s My Driving?
It’s strange to think that one year ago today, at the dawn of 2008, I was still months away from even thinking of starting my own country music blog. Back then, my only involvement with the medium was as a frequent reader of the CMT Blog and The 9513 (which I discovered through the CMT Blog back in 2007).
Needless to say, things have changed quite a bit. In the past 8 months or so, I have started my own blog, grown it week by week, made a bunch of super cool virtual friends, discovered all sorts of good music, joined the staff of The 9513, been featured pseudonymously in Country Weekly, and kind of even figured out what I’m doing. If you’re reading this now, you deserve some thanks for making my 2008 such an exciting trip. So, thank you.
Since you’re an important part of what happens here, I’d like to solicit your feedback as I consider 2009. What do you want to see more of? What do you want to see less of? If you could give me one piece of advice for the blogging year ahead, what would it be?
Let me know what’s on your mind. Any and all feedback is appreciated.
Prefer email? Nothing wrong with that!

This is my favourite Country site! And I’m not just saying that. What I like best is hearing different people’s opinions i.e. yours via editorials etc. There’s a lot of humour – which I like. Quotable Country is probably my favourite section of the site, as well as “Sanity”. I have a feeling Fake News will soon become a favourite. What I would like is more editorials instead of one every one or two months. And more Sanity Series. Keep up the great work and have a happy new year!
I like just about every section on the site. Quotable Country is a must-read. I also enjoy reading about your new discoveries.
I agree with David that if possible, more editorials would be cool. Quotable Country and the Sanity Series are also great.
My advice: keep up the good work. You’re doing a bang-up job.
Oh, and you stole my idea! I was just about to make an almost identical post like this on my blog …
Everyone else stole mine. xD
Just keep on keeping on.
Thanks for the feedback, everyone.
I agree that editorials did fall by the wayside toward the end of last year and that’s definitely something I’ll be looking to correct in 2009. Not going to put them on a regular schedule, but I’ll make more of an effort to include them. It’s just that those are the easiest thing to let slip when I get busy with life.
Also, I’m glad to hear that there’s some interest in the Sanity Series; I kind of like it, but have had doubts about how it was being received. Expect to see that feature return in the next week.
More feedback welcome!
Honestly, if you just keep going at this pace, you’re golden. I can’t complain about any of the content here, but I’d like to see more free-form posts like the one you did for Roger Wallace. You’re frankly a good enough writer that you can make informal recommendations/musings/whatever like that and still sound authoritative. And of course, keep the humor going.
I’ll second the keep on keepin’ on sentiment. This is one of my favorite blogs and I’m constantly impressed by your talent.
Also, I hope that you keep on keepin’ on over at the9513 as well. That was the site that got me into the whole “country blog” thing, and I think that you’ve been a phenomenal addition to the roster.
bravo!
You’re pretty good at coming up with stuff on your own, so just keep that up. I dig quotable country and the informal type recommendations, but everything is above par. Your reviews at The 9513 are always great, as well. *coughcough*
