If country-folk ballads sung by a young guy with a raspy old voice are right up your alley, meet Jacob Jones. Electric Western Records released his latest full-length studio album, Bound for Glory, earlier this year – another solid release from the label, on the heels of that Derek Hoke album I liked so much. Now Jones and Electric Western have made available a 6-song acoustic EP, which you can read about here and download for free HERE. Recommended if you like Justin Townes Earle, Ryan Bingham, old-timey hat-and-vest combos.
I’m a pretty hard sell on this type of music, just because there seem to be a lot of young old-voiced guys doing basically the same thing, but Bound for Glory was one album that gave me pause when it passed my desk earlier this year. For free, this new acoustic EP is definitely worth a listen.

Thanks for the tip. Bill and I have been enjoying his music based on your earlier recommendation.
Oh, good! Wasn’t sure if anyone paid any attention to that first mention, so figured I’d give it another shot. Glad you’ve enjoyed his music… he loses me a bit on some of the super slow stuff, but generally I’m pretty impressed.
I just got his Love and War album from Emusic too.
I Like with a capital “L”, thank you for the tip :)
