Florida Georgia Line’s Double Douche Tour is going on a temporary hiatus as duo members Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley seize an opportunity to co-teach a women’s studies course at Sarah Lawrence College. “There was little question when I started writing songs with Brian about sweet little country gals shaking it on tailgates that where I really ultimately wanted to end up was somewhere in the sanctified halls of academia,” says Hubbard, pointing to his non-gender-conforming hairstyle as evidence of his fitness for the task. “It was just a matter of finding the right time and opportunity. To be able to do it now with BK, and with the support of our tour sponsors AXE and Natty Light, is more than I ever could have dreamed.” The duo’s other half, Brian Kelley, could not be reached for comment… which we suspect is no great loss. Kelley’s representative did confirm that he has been boning up on the writings of Betty Friedan and scouring pop culture for troubling depictions of women in mass media to include in one of several dozen PowerPoint presentations he’s making his wife put together for the class.
