No big exciting post today, just a question:
Who’s your favorite musical discovery of 2008? It can be a new act or just one you hadn’t encountered or developed an appreciation for until recently.
It’s a tough call, but I think I might have to go with Hayes Carll (Myspace).

I’ll say Jamey Johnson. I wasn’t crazy about his previous album, but That Lonesome Song is proving to be one of my favorites of this year (and I’ve heard a LOT of albums).
I’m gonna go with Justin Townes Earle as far as new acts.
I heartily endorse both of those choices.

- This post was inspired by the Randy Rogers Band CD that came in yesterday’s mail. People really do win big at The 9513!
- Everyone needs to check out Country Day 3 at Photocrap.
I’ll have to agree with Justin Townes Earle as well. In fact, he’s the first person I thought of before reading Brody’s comment.

great question.
well it’s no secret that I’m anti-Jamey Johnson, and Justin Townes Earle and Hayes are both pretty good (the9513 was kind enough to let me review both of them) but I’m going to have to go with Amber Digby.
I just can’t get enough of her stuff, she’s like a new Connie Smith.
p.s. CM Wilcox, I depsise the way your comment section works.
Jamey Johnson.
Sorry for the commenting troubles, Ben.
She’s not new, but Lee Ann Womack is probably my favorite discovery this year. I’d heard a few of her songs before, but I recently listened to There’s More Where That Came From and her first couple albums on myspace and really liked them.
I’m going to be cliche’ and go with Miranda Lambert here. I really got into her CXG album at the beginning of this year and her music has stayed in rotation all year long …
All great choices. I’ll probably say my favorite new discovery for this year is Deirdre Hughes, who actually got me to spin around a room while listening to one of her songs.
