Elvis Remixed? – News and Links

  • What do Carrie Underwood, Martina McBride, LeAnn Rimes, Gretchen Wilson, Sara Evans, Wynonna Judd, Amy Grant, and Anne Murray have in common? They’re all women. Oh, and all of them will duet with Elvis on Elvis Presley Christmas Duets, out October 14.
  • Katjusa Cisar discovered that Wynonna isn’t exactly an easy interview and now some of the star’s fans are leaping to her defense.
  • Travis Tritt and Marty Stuart are bouncing around the idea of doing an acoustic album together, in addition to the coast-to-coast acoustic tour they have planned for this fall.
  • Toby Keith has been taking heat from The Huffington Post over some of his purportedly racist song lyrics and interview comments. New Republic blogger Jason Zengerle offers a semi-defense of Keith, with links back to the pertinent Huffington Post pieces.
  • John R. Simon has written a book titled Cowboy Copas and the Golden Age of Country Music. It’s reportedly the first ever biography of Copas, who was killed in the same 1963 plane crash that claimed the lives of Patsy Cline and Hawkshaw Hawkins.
  • Entertainment Weekly’s PopWatch blog has a pretty in-depth interview with Nashville Star winner Melissa Lawson.
  • The Live From Austin DVD series will soon include entries by Dierks Bentley and Trace Adkins.
  • Elizabeth Cook and the family bluegrass band Cherryholmes wowed the crowd at a tour stop over the pond.
