I also meant to mention about the lead singer (which is why I hit reply to this).. In his other band, he was never the lead singer.. this cd actually made me realize why xD

I’m not sure if any of you listen to them because you guys were fans of The Pink Spiders, but that’s why I know of them. && I’m not much of a country fan(at all) but I enjoy these songs. I’m not sure it’s that I enjoy the actual lyrics or just that I enjoy the beats though.

Great review though, I agree with most of it!

Have you heard his solo albums and/or his early 80s work with Gary Stewart, David? He did a version of Some Days It Takes All Night on his CD Hot, Country And Single in the early 90s.

It’s nice that Dean Dillion had a moment to shine. I enjoyed his duet with George Strait, “West Texas Town” (from Troubadour).

I really like the duet with Dean Dillon. I liked the song Welcome Home Kentucky Boy, but the lead singer doesn’t have much of a voice. This Barstool’s My Tombstone is pretty good too.

Nice review, David. I was pleasantly surprised by this album. My favorites include “Sold My Soul (to the Honky Tonk),” “This Barstool Is My Tombstone,” and the Dillon duet on “Some Days It Takes All Night.” I agree with you about some of the weak points, but on the whole it’s certainly worth a download, IMO.

Oh, and there’s no such thing as too much pessimism and alcohol-fueled remorse. :-P
