Country California

Country music. Seriously.

Desert Island Question

If you could take one CD to a desert island and leave it there to be forgotten by all humanity, which CD would you choose? It can be an album you just personally dislike or one that you think actually had a negative impact on the development of country music.

  1. Man, I just can’t settle on one. Let me get back to you.

  2. “Bat Out of Hell”. period. or maybe “Hotel California”. Let me get back to you.

  3. Can I just put Rascal Flatts, the band, on the island?

If not, I’d have to pick Still Feels Good, if anyone really counts it as a country album.

  4. I see your point about Rascal Flatts, but if I were going to leave a person there, it’d be Taylor Swift. I’ll even offer to take care of her grumpy cat once she’s gone.

  5. If you guys are going to start leaving people on the island, you should know that Gary Levox’s raw presexual magnetism and Taylor Swift’s girlish enthusiasm can both be used as flotation devices.

  6. Seeing as I can only take one copy of the album, it’ll be Phil Stacey’s cd, because I believe I’m the only one who bought it.

    Jordan Stacey

  7. Is this the same desert island that Kenny Chesney frequents?

  8. I don’t think so, Blake.

Aaand the fact that typing the above so amused me means that I’ve been watching too much Home Improvement.

  9. Back to the topic at hand, I think the Urban Cowboy soundtrack would probably be a contender.

  10. I'll go with Big & Rich's "Coming to Your City"

  11. Taking The Long Way by The Dixie Chicks.

It’s not a bad album, far from it. But it must be the most overpraised album in history. To hear the lefty wingnuts describe it, it’s on a par with SGT PEPPER, JOHNNNY CASH AT FOLSOM PRISON and TAPESTRY, whereas it’s not even the Chicks best album

  12. I’m afraid it is the best Chicks album. To hear the righty wingnuts describe it … oops, they can’t because they steamrolled their copies.

    Best. Quote. Ever.

  14. Crystal Gayle’s “In My Arms”. This was a special children’s album that she did, but it’s still so sugary that I got diabeetus listening to it. It had a few instrumentals at the end, and even THOSE were bad.
