Country Album Releases for June 7

There’s an awful lot of new music out there this week, so I’ve bolded my top picks and added a few notes to help you sift through all of it for whatever fits your own tastes.

Here are a few Country California-approved selections from Amazon MP3′s list of $5 albums for June:

Already ordered me a copy of the Watson-Vincent album. Can’t wait to hear it!

  2. Juli says:

Thanks for the link, CMW! I’m so stoked to hear the Watson-Vincent album in its entirety; hope my copy gets here ASAP.

  3. Leeann says:

Downloaded it from Emusic today. Hoping to get a chance to listen tonight.

Wow, local indie LA artists are well represented on that list! Cow Bop does jazzy western swing, Patrolled By Radar is an eclectic mix of traditional country through Americana (they used to be named 50 Cent Haircut), and Nick 13 is having two album release parties at The Troubadour club on Santa Monica Blvd. on Friday and Saturday nights. I’m going to the Friday night show that features Lynda Kay as the opening act. Should be a good spot of fun!

If I could pick two freebies off that list it would definitely be Gene and Rhonda and The Farewell Drifters. Paul Dennis gave the duets album a great write up at My Kind Of Country and although Juli has broad ranging, eclectic (yes, I like that word!) tastes in music, she usually likes stuff that doesn’t suck! (lol)

Another indie album released today is “The Mirror” by Jill Andrews. Jill used to be the female half of The Everybody Fields whom I got to see perform live back in October 2007 in Joshua Tree. Jill has also been featured on “Music City Roots” in the recent past. Jill put out an EP awhile back that I considered a bit disappointing, so hopefully this new album is, er.., um…, a whole lot better! (lol)

      Go Jill!

The Watson/Vincent album is most definitely worth buying rather than waiting for a freeby. Not being a huge fan of either of them separately (though I respect both of their talents and enjoyed Rhonda’s latest solo album pretty well), I love them together on this album. It’s certainly one of the best albums I’ve heard this year so far.

Also, I’m also enjoying the Justin Haigh and Farewell Drifters albums. This was a great release day.
