Chris Knight Autograph Seeker Disappointed It’s Not the Brady Bunch Guy

After waiting in an autograph line at a Kalamazoo bar for some 15 minutes, Grand Rapids native and Brady Bunch fanatic Ron Perry was disappointed to discover that the man at the head of the line was the Chris Knight of Americana music fame, not the guy who played the middle son on the popular ’70s sitcom. Perry realized his error only after coming face to face with Knight and embarrassing himself by rattling off a series of questions concerning the relationship between Barry Williams and Florence Henderson, the homosexuality of Robert Reed, rumors of a real-life rivalry between Eve Plumb and Maureen McCormick, and the possibility of future seasons of the VH1 series My Fair Brady. Knight, a rough-and-tumble roots-rocker who does most of his talking in songs, merely flashed a bemused expression at bystanders and grunted something in Kentuckian. Said Perry: “I heard Chris Knight was going to be here, so I took off work and everything. I thought he looked a little different, but I figured he was just preparing for a role in a TV movie or something. Who’d you say that guy was? A singer? He kind of looked like he wanted to beat me up.”
