A Hundred Thousand and Counting

Between the end of the month and the short holiday week, it’s been pretty slow around here these last few days, but things will be picking back up again next week/month. Even without a whole lot of new content to speak of, traffic this week brought us to a milestone I’ve been eying for the past month or so: 100,000 hits.

In terms of traffic, here’s the breakdown of the site’s growth:

  • After one month: 1,000 hits
  • After four months: 10,000 hits
  • After eleven months: 100,000 hits

I don’t know how these stack up against any other site’s numbers, but we’re moving in the right direction and continually topping ourselves, so I’m happy. What used to take months now happens in a matter of days. That’s a pretty cool feeling. It makes me glad for a slow start and a steady build.

The next milestone is 1,000,000, so you probably won’t see another of these updates for years. And by then, who knows? Perhaps we’ll have morphed into a country gossip site or something.

For now, though, I just wanted to say thanks. You keep reading and I’ll keep writing.

Things People Are Saying

  1. Awesome news. Congratulations! I suspect that millionth hit will come far sooner than you think.

  2. Congratulations! I’m happy to keep my end of the deal.

  3. Well done, sir! Even if I wasn’t a co-conspirator with this blog, I’d read it everyday. I enjoy the slightly off-center approach and the appreciation for real country… and well, good music in general. Keep up the great work!

  4. Congrats on the milestone, CM. I check everything you write out in my feed reader and especially look forward to Quotable Country every week. Keep up the good work! (BTW, it looks like your stats plugin is duplicating the code in your footer. I’ve got two smilies lookin’ back at me)

  5. Thanks for the congrats, folks.

Anyone experiencing problems commenting or with anything else on the site today? Just as I posted about how cool growth is, my host sent a probationary email saying that I might be putting an undue load on the server… so I tried enabling a caching plugin, which could be messing with things now. I know that J.R. reported some commenting issues earlier today.

    • You lost me after ‘probationary email’ but I hope you get it sorted it out. I posted 2 comments and they disappeared – hope this one doesn’t.

Oh, and Congratulations again – and again, I am proud to be one of your 100,000.

  6. Congrats! You’re always good for a good laugh or snarky comment! The music’s great too!

  7. Congrats, C.M. You can count on me for a couple of hits everyday. I love Quotable Country and I also enjoy broadening my listening habits via your recommendations. Looking forward to much more.

  8. Mike M. says:

C.M., I know I’m a little late to the party, but congratulations on the milestone. I try to hit up your website at least once every couple of days, along with Country Universe and the 9513. The feel of this website is really unique, and I really respect what you do. Keep up the nice work.
