I know everybody is going to say it’s sour grapes, but I don’t care – it’s not. ●
- - … said Toby Keith as a manly tear rolled down his cheek.
What [the CMA] doesn’t seem to recognize, however, is that standardization is the reason for pop’s decline. Standardization is why the pop music of the 80s and 90s has failed in the new century, and it’s the reason why country music, as an industry, will fail as well. Standardization makes the music boring and irrelevant. ●
- - This nail-on-the-head moment brought to you courtesy of Jim Malec.
If somebody tells you that the sensitive ballads are more fun to perform than the uptempo rockers that get people on their feet and make them throw their panties onstage, they are lying. ●
- - Translation: Trace Adkins is going to keep right on badonkadonking.
I don’t have a beef with Apple, or iTunes, or any of them. I do have a beef with that it seems kind of socialist of them to charge the same price for every song. ●
- - Kid Rock. Ten bucks says we’ll all be getting government-issued iTunes gift cards come January 20 (via Country Universe).
We were listening to Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake. We were listening to everything! ●
- - With the possible exception of country music. Kellie Pickler on sharing a CMA dressing room with friend Taylor Swift.
In his complaint, [actor-producer David Keith] says he secured permissions from Whitley’s family for the film and from RCA, Whitley’s label, for the soundtrack music. He also says he received verbal casting agreements from Billy Ray Cyrus and bluegrass musician J.D. Crowe. ●
- - This is about a proposed Keith Whitley biopic that has become ensnared in some legal problems and now might not happen. Does this mean the world has been deprived of seeing Billy Ray Cyrus take on the role of Whitley? That would have been classic.
I was trying to rock out as hard as [I] could at first, and then the judge told me that playing music wasn’t a real job and to go out there and get $60,000 in back pay. At this time, I was only making $25 - $50 a week playing drums. That’s when I had to go sell my soul, or what have you, on Music Row for the child support. ●
- - How Hank III ended up unhappily married to Curb Records.
Known for their energetic stage shows and slick-sounding fast songs as well as their heartfelt ballads, One Night Rodeo is a band that not only is appealing to a more youthful demographic, but has gained fans of all ages from all parts of the U.S. ●
- - Desperation = slipping in a bit about how you’re “appealing to a more youthful demographic” in the very first sentence of your artist bio.
I’d sure like to know who controls the largest shares of Tylenol. God forbid it be the oil companies! ●
- - Leave to it Merle Haggard to turn a comment about how he took a lot of Tylenol while hospitalized into a political jab.
It’s a high school prom, it’s a Springsteen song, it’s a ride in a Chevrolet
It’s a man on the moon and fireflies in June and kids selling lemonade
It’s cities and farms, it’s open arms, one nation under God, it’s America
- - Just in case you were wondering, Rodney Atkins loves America.
Atkins should hang his head in shame. This is a despicable travesty of the truth!!! ●
- - I’m all for taking a strong stance against mediocrity… in music criticism, too.

Would it make me unpatriotic to write a parody of Rodney’s song?
I think you’d be doing a great service to humanity.
Man, that Rodeoattitude.com dude is hardcore.
